Game Report:

In the final match of the round, it was the Queensland Firebirds who played stern host to the Suzuki Pulse in Brisbane.

Vicki Wilson`s Firebirds sent the Pulse packing with a 56-28 demolition, adding their name to a list of six other teams with two wins and one loss on the table.

The Firebirds jumped the gun early ,scoring at a two-to-one ratio in the first quarter. Their shooting percentage was flawless as the ball moved with ease and precision to find the towering Romelda Aiken at home by the post.

By the main break, the Firebirds were setting themselves up for a more than convincing win, after adding 17 goals to their tally in the second term. The unstoppable Aiken finished with 24 goals at 96 percent for the half. The defensive effort of Queensland keeper Laura Geitz, who was left off the court against the Melbourne Vixens last week, was simply outstanding, proving her worth to coach Wilson.

Her intuitive intercepts and solid partnership with Peta Stephens ensured that the Pulse attack was never in a position to mount any form of challenge. In the second half, things got worse for Pulse who managed to score only four goals for in the third quarter, while the Firebirds extended their lead to 43-18 by three-quarter time.

Imported English defender Sonia Mkoloma had little success all night against the Firebirds shooters, with Wilson playing all four of her goalers, including Jo Morgan in the second half.

By full-time it was an appealing 28-goal win to the Queensland Firebirds in the most dominant display by any team in the ANZ Championship so far.
