Cox - Swifts are raring to go!
In what is great news for NSW Swifts fans, Captain Catherine Cox is back in training with her rehabilitation from foot surgery progressing well.
Having undergone surgery in early January, Cox is pleased with her progress and was enjoying being back on court.
“The rehab is going well. Obviously I would have liked to be back in training last week, but I think that’s the mind set of any athlete,” Cox said.
“I’m being watched like a hawk at the moment by our medical team to ensure that I’m following a certain timeline and not rushing anything.”
With the season fast approaching, Cox and her team mates have been buoyed by the support they have been receiving from NSW Swifts members.
“There’s nothing more exciting than being at a home court and being surrounded by fans. A lot of those members are the ones that are at those games and they’re the ones sending us emails and well wishes all the time and that is never taken for granted.”

“Everyone is busting to get on court again. It’s been a long time particularly for some of the Swifts that haven’t played Aussie stuff since the end of the ANZ Championship last year to it starting again.”
“We’re shaping up well. Obviously with the Aussie girls and Sonia (Mkoloma) away, the younger girls have the opportunity to create some combinations and they’re gaining more confidence with every session.”
“The most exciting thing about going to this event is that you can see where other players have dispersed themselves throughout the off-season. There are a lot of players that have moved to new teams and likewise we’ve picked up some new ones too that will be out on court for the first time.”
You can show your support of the NSW Swifts by becoming a member in 2010. Packages start at $70 so there is sure to be something for everyone.
