COX JOINS THE 200 CLUB
NSW Swifts captain Catherine Cox will celebrate her 200th national league game on Saturday when she takes to the court against the Melbourne Vixens in Round 13 of the ANZ Championship.
Cox will become only the second player to play 200 national league games, with the first player being Diamonds and Melbourne Vixens captain Sharelle McMahon.
Making her debut in 1997, Cox played 160 games in the former national league and has played in every NSW Swifts ANZ Championship match since the inception of the competition in 2008.
A World Champion, Commonwealth Games gold medallist and ANZ Championship premiership winning captain, Cox has a remarkable list of achievements to her name.
“Definitely winning my first premiership in 2004 and certainly the inaugural ANZ Championship with the NSW Swifts in 2008 have been highlights. I certainly wouldn’t have stuck around as long as I have if I hadn’t loved what I’ve been doing the whole time,” NSW Swifts captain Catherine Cox said.
“I am excited about my 200th just because it is a massive milestone. There’s only one other player that’s achieved that so far and that’s Sharelle McMahon and I don’t know how soon it’s going to be before there’s someone else.
“It’s a special club to be a part of.”
