Netballers have a go on Australia Day
Hyde Park was one of the places to be on Australia Day with NSW Swifts star Susan Pratley and the NetSetGO! Activity Centre there to greet kids in the ‘Have a Go Sports’ area.
It may have been raining and very muddy, but nothing could dampen the spirits of the kids who were keen to meet the Swifts shooter and test their skills.
“It was great to see so many people out and about given the weather wasn’t great; we all got a bit wet and muddy,” Pratley said laughing.
“The kids were great. Some of them had never tried netball before so to see them having a go at shooting goals, catching and passing was good to see.
“Days like yesterday are always a lot of fun. It’s a great chance for kids (and parents) to try a variety of sports. At the end of the day we all want them to be healthy and active.”
Netball NSW and the NSW Swifts have been actively involved in numerous activities in the lead-up to Australia Day 2012 with Susan attending the ‘Make Your Mark’ launch at the end of 2011 and the unveiling of the winners of the ‘Make Your Mark’ competition last weekend, as well as Mo’onia Gerrard attending the official launch of the 2012 Australia Day Program earlier this month.
