NSW Swifts four from four in Queenstown
The NSW Swifts have recorded another two wins on day two of the pre-season tournament in Queenstown defeating the Central Pulse, 56-53, and the Southern Steel, 56-49.
The Central Pulse had the early running in their match against the NSW Swifts, leading for the majority of the contest. However, as they did against the AIS on day one, the Swifts young brigade dug deep to get their team over the line and keep their unbeaten run going.
In their second game of the day the NSW Swifts took to the court once again against the Southern Steel. Defeating them by 19 goals the day before, the Swifts met a vastly improved Steel outfit, with this match going right down to the wire.
NSW Swifts Head Coach, Julie Fitzgerald, although unhappy with their match against the Pulse was pleased with the turnaround against the Steel.
"We didn`t play well this morning (against the Pulse). It was an ordinary match, but we held it together enough to come away with the win," Fitzgerald said.
"The match against the Steel was a very good game. It was very even for three quarters, however our increase in defensive pressure in the last quarter was excellent which set the platform for the win."
The NSW Swifts will face the Northern Mystics tomorrow morning in their final match of the Queenstown Pre-Season Tournament. Both the Mystics and Swifts will enter the match undefeated, setting the scene for an exhilarating contest.
